Cassava exports increase as China prices surge

Vietnam exported $638 million of cassava in the first five months of the year, nearly equal to 110 per cent of the entire export revenue of last year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Due to demand from mainland China, traders are buying large quantities of cassava, causing the domestic price to go up 40-45 per cent compared to last year.
