Sugar firm’s sweet energy move

Lam Son Sugar Joint Stock Company was honoured with an investment licence to invest in a 12.5 megawatt renewable energy project at a cost of around VND260 billion ($12.5 million).

The central Thanh Hoa province company will build a plant producing power from sugar cane crags within the company premises in Tho Xuan district.

The project was slated for completion and tests in December, 2011 its duration is 30 years.

As the developer of an preferrential investment project, Lam Son sugar company will be exempted from import duty for products imported for the project’s implementation and constituting the power plant’s fixed assets.
