Nokia will partner with Foxconn to produce its 5G AirScale equipment at Foxconn's factory in the northern province of Bac Giang.

Under the partnership, Foxconn will manufacture Nokia's 5G AirScale equipment, including the latest AirScale Massive MIMO radio products. Production is scheduled to begin in July, with a plan to increase production in September 2024. Products will be sold in both the domestic and international markets.

The move is expected to generate more employment and bring new economic opportunities to Vietnamese companies, while the project is also aimed at slashing carbon emissions.

A Foxconn representative said, "We are very excited to expand our partnership with Nokia to make its latest 5G products in Vietnam. It also highlights the role of Vietnam as a favourite manufacturing destination. We have been operating in Vietnam for more than 17 years. In light of the partnership with Nokia, we hope to enhance our contribution to the country's economy. We also expect a strong long-term partnership with Nokia in Vietnam."

Ruben Flores, general director of Nokia Vietnam, said, “The partnership with Foxconn to make the AirScale product portfolio in Vietnam will meet customer demand and improve cost efficiency. It also underlines our commitment to continuously optimise our manufacturing, distribution, and supplier networks in the region. Nokia has been a part of Vietnam's growth over the past three decades, and this initiative will continue to strengthen our bond with the country."

Nokia has engaged in 5G deployment projects with Vietnamese telecom service providers. As Nokia's global manufacturing partner, Foxconn will expand its capacity to produce Nokia's 5G products in Vietnam. The tie-up is expected to contribute to accelerating the pace of 5G deployment in Vietnam.
