NA Chairman meets and talks to Russian leaders

Continuing his working trip to Russia, Vietnamese NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung on March 11 had separate receptions and talks to Chairperson of the Federation Council Valentina Ivanovna Matvienko, PM Dmitry Medvedev, and Chairman of the State Duma Sergei Naryshkin.

In his meetings with Russian leaders, Mr. Hung confirmed that Viet Nam always considers Russia as her top partner and supports Russia to expand its relations in the Asia-Pacific region.

The Vietnamese legislative body, he added, is closely working with the Government to expand and deepen bilateral cooperation with Russia in all fields in line with the comprehensive strategic partnership between two countries.

He also asked the legislative bodies of the two countries supervise and promote the implementation of the List of Priority Tasks for 2013 and agreements inked by the two governments.

Mr. Hung took the occasion to suggest competent agencies of the two countries accelerate the signing of the Free Trade Agreement between Viet Nam and the Customs Union (Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus) in two years, so as to raise the two-way trade turnover to $7 billion by 2015 from the current figure of $3 billion.
  
Russian leaders all highly valued the significance of Vietnamese NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung’ visit which is a great contribution to the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

They expressed their aspiration that the two countries would further exchange delegations at all echelons, closely work together in prioritized fields of cooperation, such as nanotechnology, information technology, laser technology, new materials, education, culture and tourism.

They also expected to see closer cooperation between legislative bodies of the two sides in law-making and supervisory activities as well as on international parliamentary forums.

The host leaders reaffirmed that Russia is always willing to support Viet Nam’s development and promote bilateral relations in all fields.
 
On the occasion, the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Russian State Duma signed an agreement on cooperation under which the legislative bodies of the two countries can further exchange experience, documents, information and delegations.

As parts of his working visit to Russia, Mr. Hung met President of the Russian Communist Party Gennady Zyuganov and the Chairman of the Russia-Viet Nam Friendship Association.
