Metro hooks fish platform project

The Metro Cash & Carry Vietnam has opened its first fish platform in Can Tho.

The fish platform is one of the outcomes of the public-private partnership project on sustainable fishery “Creating a high quality integrated fresh fish chain for the Vietnamese domestic market” found by Metro Cash & Carry Vietnam and its business partners Vietnam Challenge Fund, Cargill Vietnam, Fresh Studio Innovation Asia, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam.

Located at Metro Cash & Carry’s Can Tho wholesale centre, the Metro fish platform consists of a processing area, cold storage rooms, waste storage rooms to ensure food safety and hygiene.
The platform develops a fish sourcing plan, selects preferred suppliers, trains and audits the suppliers, prepares and implements marketing strategy, establishes and implements project management systems.

Moreover, it is to supply Mekong Delta processed and live fish to all Metro Cash & Carry wholesale centres over the country.

This Metro fish platform is expected to generate employment of at least 1,000 people of Mekong Delta who work on farms and fishing vessels.
