The last two spans of the Lo River Bridge, one of the two longest bridges on the Noi Bai-Lao Cai Highway, were connected yesterday, promising to significantly cut travel time from Ha Noi to Sa Pa in Lao Cai Province.

The construction of the Lo River Bridge belongs to package A2 of the Noi Bai-Lao Cai highway. It was built by the RoK's Posco E&C Company.

The 833.5m long bridge has three spans with the width of 16 meters.

Noi Bai-Lao Cai highway is part of the Kunming-Hai Phong Transport Corridor, which is a co-operation program between six countries in the Greater Mekong sub-region.

Once open to traffic, the highway will reduce the travel time from Ha Noi to Sa Pa to just 4-5 hours from 10 hours at present.

The Lo River Bridge is one of eight components of the highway's first phase. The project also includes a second long bridge over the Hong (Red) River.
