Surpassing 300 nominees from 19 countries, the group's recognition as an award recipient was propelled by two standout corporate social responsibility (CSR) and environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives: "Supporting Farmers" and "Sustainable Resource Management."

This marks the second time a Vietnam-based representative has been honoured by the AREA awards. Greenfeed first received this accolade in 2018, entering the "Social Empowerment" category with its "Supporting Farmers" programme.

"Being honoured in the 'Social Empowerment' and 'Green Leadership' categories reaffirms our long-standing commitment to sustainable community development and environmental protection,” said Ly Anh Duy Quang, member of the Board of Directors of Greenfeed Vietnam. “Moving forward, we will expand the scope of our CSR programmes and enhance capacity and skills training activities for disadvantaged groups. We will also continue to champion green transformation through sustainable resource management and circular agriculture practices. These initiatives are integral to Greenfeed's management culture, embraced and executed by our leadership team and nearly 4,700 members."

Founded with a mission to foster sustainable communities, the "Supporting Farmers" programme has been aiding farmers, particularly rural women, in enhancing their livelihoods since 2010. This initiative promotes effective livestock farming through a range of supportive measures, including awarding interest-free loans for two years; providing partial support for animal feed costs; organising training sessions on husbandry skills; awarding scholarships to children of participant households with good academic performance; and deducting 20 per cent from the initial loans for participant households that repay on time and sustain their businesses.

Over the past 14 years, the initiative has engaged with 2,650 farming households and conducted 64 technical training sessions across 24 provinces and cities. Achieving a 95 per cent on-time capital return rate from participating households, the programme has improved the lives of over 11,000 individuals and provided nearly 5,000 scholarships to the children of these households.

Since 2021,Greenfeed's ESG initiative centering on sustainable resource management has yielded many achievements.

Greenfeed refrains from encroaching on nature reserves, watershed forests, areas rich in biodiversity, cultural and historical sites, as well as land inhabited by ethnic minorities.

To promote economical and effective water usage, the group implements automated feeding and watering systems on its farms, as well as practices for recycling and reusing water in animal feed production and processing.

Efforts are also made to replace fossil fuels with green energy (solar, biomass) and renewable energy (biogas). The company's renewable energy initiatives are projected to mitigate approximately 9,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions in 2023.

All the group’s animal feed factories in Vietnam utilise biomass fuel for their boilers. Moreover, seven farms utilise rooftop solar power systems, and six facilities operate biogas generator systems.

When it comes to minimising plastic packaging, the group is transitioning from distributing animal feed in bagged form to bulk export, thus reducing accumulated plastic packaging by 1,151 tonnes within three years (2021-2023).

In addition, by recycling livestock waste into organic fertiliser, Greenfeed has supplied thousands of tons of traditional organic fertiliser and liquid vermicompost for agricultural use.

Richard Tsang, president of Enterprise Asia said, “The interconnected challenges of climate change and social inequity underscore the urgent need for a comprehensive approach to sustainability."

"By adopting ESG principles, companies can innovate boldly, reduce operational risks, attract purpose-driven talent, and earn consumer loyalty through ethical practices. This holistic approach not only aligns with global sustainability goals, but also positions businesses as champions of lasting transformative change across borders and generations,” he added.
