Great Place to Work – the global authority on workplace culture – will honour 15 companies in the inaugural Vietnam's Best Workplaces event held at Sofitel Saigon Plaza on May 12. To establish what makes the best workplace, it has used the same standards as in the renowned Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For in the US and Fortune World’s 25 Best Workplaces.

The Great Place to Work methodology is based on building a high-trust workplace culture that can be a great experience for all. It uses the Trust Index survey to assess if companies are truly great places to work, based on a model that has been developed and refined over 30 years. Organisers believe that it is not enough that only some people in an organisation have great workplace experiences. All employees, regardless of who they are or what they do, should have consistently positive workplace experiences.

Certification is the mark of a great employee experience. In Vietnam, more than 30 companies were certified as great workplaces in their first year of operations. These companies enjoy many benefits including the ability to attract top talent, brand themselves as a company that cares for customers, and leverage a healthy culture to grow their bottom line.

Certification depends on results from the Trust Index survey that captures employees’ feedback on their day-to-day workplace experiences. Based on the employee survey responses, companies will receive an in-depth analysis of their company culture and insights into areas such as perceived fairness, feelings of camaraderie, and perception of leadership efficacy.

The results of a company’s Trust Index survey will show which company programmes and initiatives should continue and which might not be meeting expectations. By understanding what is working and what is not, leaders can put resources where they are needed most. This allows a company to benchmark the current state of their culture and set goals and plans for improvement.

Many companies find that asking employees to participate in a survey about their workplace experience creates goodwill. Employees appreciate being given the opportunity to voice their opinions. When the executive team is focused on creating a great workplace culture and continues to gather employee feedback, employees know that a positive workplace experience is a top management priority.

On May 12, the Vietnam Best Workplaces event will honour the first batch of certified companies in Vietnam that are placed in the 15 Best Workplaces. Companies and their employees will participate in a networking session, hear from business leaders and HR community representatives in a panel discussion on employee engagement in the new normal, recognise certified companies, and celebrate companies that are placed on the Best Workplaces List in Vietnam.
