Deputy PM urges work to start on Long Thanh Airport by 2019

The Government Office has announced Deputy PM Trinh Dinh Dung’s conclusion at a recent meeting on implementing the Long ThanhInternational Airport project in the southern province of Dong Nai.

The announcement specified that Long ThanhAirport is an important national project and the largest project of the country in the civil aviation sector, the investment policy of which has been approved by the National Assembly since 2015. The project targets to build Long Thanh Airport to meet the 4F standard of the International Civil Aviation Organization, towards becoming an international passenger and cargo transit center in the region. The airport is scheduled to be constructed on an area of 2,750 hectares, accounting for 55% of the total land of 5,000 hectares revoked for the project. Once it is put into operation in 2025, Long Thanh Airport will be 40 kilometers from Ho Chi Minh City and 30 kilometers from Bien Hoa city. Deputy PM Dung praised Dong Nai province, the Ministry of Transport, the Viet Nam Airlines Corporation and relevant units for their proactive fulfillment of many contents of work relating to the project implementation. He tasked the Transport Ministry to work with Dong Nai province and relevant ministries and agencies to complete the conditions to start the construction of LongThanh Airport as soon as possible, specifically in 2019, two years ahead of schedule.
