The signing of the agreement took place on Tuesday during the October 27-28 India visit by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.
The deal with Air Costa is part of VietJetAir’s ambitious strategy to spread its wings in the Asia Pacific region.
VietJetAir has also entered into other deals with Angel-Fairy Travel and Southeast Asia University to enable VietJet Thailand joint venture to join forces with the Vietnamese airline to launch an air service connecting Vietnam, Thailand and India in December this year.
VietJetAir looks set to take delivery late this year of the first of the 100 Airbus aircraft it ordered in February.
The second largest carrier in Vietnam after Vietnam Airlines has a fleet of 16 Airbus A320 jetliners with more than 110 domestic and international flights a day.
The HCMC-headquartered airline has expanded its domestic network to almost all major airports in Vietnam, including in Hanoi, Danang, Haiphong, Vinh, Dalat and Nha Trang. For international services, it now flies to South Korea, Singapore, Thailand and Taiwan.
