Vietnam Blockchain Association changes personnel

On the evening of February 14, 2023, the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Blockchain Association (VBA) held the first extraordinary meeting to review personnel.

Previously, Huy Nguyen held the position of vice chairman; Pham Minh Tri held the position of standing member; and Pham Toan Thang held the position of member of the executive committee. Based on the Executive Board's resolution, these three members seriously violated the Association's Charter.

The Executive Board of the VBA has approved the cancellation of the membership of Huy Nguyen, Pham Minh Tri, Pham Toan Thang and dismissed all related positions of these two members. This dismissal and cancellation of membership has been agreed upon by 100 per cent of the members attending the meeting.

Hoang Van Huay, chairman of VBA, former Deputy Minister of Science and Technology said, "We have witnessed the collapse of the blockchain application market in cryptocurrencies in countries around the world like the US, Korea. From individuals who are bright stars in the industry like Sam [Bankman-Fried] or Do Kown to economic criminals on the run. They don't have technology problems, but problems with other factors. Therefore, when solving technology problems, we also need to pay attention to the factors that revolve around people, which is professional ethics."

In February, the National Cyber Security Center (NCSC) confirmed that the Vietnam Blockchain Association had completed the registration and approval process. The blockchain.vn website has obtained the basic network trust certificate for websites from February 1, 2023

To create a transparent and qualified blockchain technology application environment in Vietnam, and at the same time become a solid and long-term bridge between Vietnamese blockchain human resources and global organisations and communities, the association focused on monitoring information system safety; ensuring information security; and taking steps to apply for a certificate of network trust.

"The adjustment and purification of inappropriate personnel during this period is inevitable to increase the community's reputation, create legal value, comply with and operate standards of the Vietnam Blockchain Association. At the same time, we are always ready to connect, listen to, share and develop suggestions from association and businesses, as well as domestic and international communities," chairman Huay added.

Recently, at the Vietnam - Singapore Business Forum chaired by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, the VBA was one of the organisations representing Vietnam's new technology sector.

In 2023, the VBA aims to develop and bring together experts not only in technology but also in legal professions; and financial experts continue to publish standards for the blockchain market, including fraud identification standards, information security standards, and the development of the blockchain technology community.
