Slaughtering and consuming dog and cat meat not only takes place in Vietnam but also occurs in many countries around the world. But while neighbouring countries such as the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, and Japan have issued a ban and strict sanctions, the law of Vietnam has not yet provided a criminal regulation for this behaviour.
