The first expo on the semiconductor industry, which will gather more than 3,000 member companies, and 1.5 million professionals in the semiconductor and electronics design, manufacturing, and supply chains worldwide, aims to strengthen international cooperation.
It will also look to mobilise resources and connect investment opportunities between domestic and foreign businesses.
At a press meeting on October 23, NIC's director general, Vu Quoc Huy, said that the semiconductor industry is the core of the electronics industry, responsible for creating microchips and electronic components to manufacture complex products.
To diversify the supply chain after the COVID-19 pandemic and complicated geopolitical movements, as well as to take advantage of abundant affordable human resources, companies are moving to Asia.

"The exhibition is the ministry's proactive step in implementing the tasks outlined in the government's Semiconductor Industry Development Strategy and Human Resources Development Programme," Huy said.
"It will provide opportunities for business connections and access to the supply chain between Vietnamese and international enterprises, thereby promoting Vietnam's participation in the global value chain," he added. "This also aims to develop the ancillary industry ecosystem and attract investment from leading global semiconductor makers."
Linda Tan, president of SEMI SEA, said that SEMIExpo Vietnam 2024 is a significant event for the country as it continues to emerge in the global semiconductor supply chain. She added that with strong government support and a focus on building a robust semiconductor ecosystem, Vietnam is poised to make significant contributions to the global supply chain.
“This event supports collaboration, innovation, and strategic partnerships. SEMI hopes to facilitate the next growth phase for the semiconductor industry in Vietnam and the broader Southeast Asia region,” Tan affirmed.
