In a statement released on January 2, Rosario also stressed that the change came at the time when numerous challenges are lying ahead of the bloc on some important issues in the region.
Rosario said he believed that the new Secretary General, with his extensive professional experience and expertise, will be able to address the challenges as the 10 member states are working together towards establishing a community which is politically cohesive, economically integrated and socially responsible.
