The Government of Laos signed a contract with Vietnam’s Global South Joint Stock Company, allowing the firm to search for minerals in Laos.

Under the contract, the company is permitted to search within a 24 square kilometre area of Xangthong district, near the capital, Vientiane.

Global South pledged to use state-of-the-art equipment and a team of highly experienced specialists during their operations and be environmentally responsible, as well as provide jobs for as many local people as possible.

To mark the occasion, the Vietnamese company also donated $40,000 to build five houses for Lao war veterans.
