British University Vietnam (BUV) and City St George’s University - University of London (UOL), in partnership with the Centre for Foreign Affairs and Languages Training (CEFALT), signed an MoU on September 16.
According to the agreement, the three institutions will collaborate extensively on several key areas from now until 2029, and will primarily focus on establishing and offering international collaborative training opportunities.
The three institutions will also seek funding for research to enhance capabilities, foster scientific innovation, and develop socially impactful initiatives.
Another area of focus will be to strengthen the strategic partnership between BUV and UOL, with the hope of increasing collaborative learning and improving the educational link between the UK and Vietnam.
Collaborative online international learning aims to enhance remote learning capabilities and improve access to international educational content for several diverse learner groups.
A student exchange scheme is also included, involving short-term study exchanges that help students develop skills, broaden their perspectives, and engage in cultural exchange.
Prof. Rick Bennett, deputy vice-chancellor and vice president of BUV, said, "This partnership marks a significant step in our multilateral cooperation and should enhance value for every student and faculty member within BUV's network. Going beyond mere academic exchange, this agreement represents our shared vision for the future of education - one that is globally connected, locally relevant, and continuously evolving."
Mai Anh Thai, director of CEFALT, said, "This collaboration paves the way for future joint initiatives that will bring British education closer to the people of Ho Chi Minh City and southern provinces."
Dr. Sionade Robinson, vice president of Enterprise, Engagement and Employability at City St George’s University, said, "We are delighted to be signing an MoU with BUV as we have a shared ambition to bring world-class knowledge and education to our students along with the skills needed by employers to succeed in today’s global economy."
BUV and CEFALT had previously collaborated on foreign language education in Ho Chi Minh City and its neighbouring provinces.
The UOL is BUV's long-standing awarding body for undergraduate programmes, including Finance, Accounting & Finance, Business & Management, and Economics & Management. Furthermore, BUV is the exclusive provider of the UOL's International Foundation Programme in Vietnam, and is currently one of the few UOL-recognised teaching centres to be granted the Quality Certification Award.
Building on this foundation, this cooperative agreement will increase opportunities for Ho Chi Minh City residents to access high-quality education and bring British-standard education closer to Vietnam.
