"Bird and tiger cages" in Hanoi: Pictures
The old apartment blocks in Hanoi have become fragile because of “bird cages” and “tiger cages,” which were built to expand apartments several square meters.
These “cages” are iron-frames that “grow” on old apartment buildings in Hanoi. These cages not only make these old buildings look ugly but also seriously affect their structure, causing potential threat to local residents.
Many people said that they understood the risk but they accepted it to have an additional several meters of space for their families.
