Dai Nam, a very famous tourist park in the southern province of Binh Duong, will be closed between November 10 and December 31 this year out of a disagreement with local officials.

Huynh Uy Dung, director of Dai Nam, said that the temporary closure is a way to oppose actions by local authorities, which, they say, have caused great problems for the park.

According to Dung, the company has had to cope with unfair treatment by local authorities. He said that between September and October, Dai Nam received 12 documents pertaining to the withdrawal of their land use rights. Recently, the company has also been subject to a number of tax audits.

Recently, the People’s Committee of Binh announced the withdrawal of a 2008 decision which allowed Dai Nam to change their time of land use from three to 50 years. The withdrawal is seen to be in line with the prime minister’s instruction.

After the decision, the PM declared that authorities of Binh Duong should be made to pay compensation of VND1.8 trillion (USD85.7 million) to Dai Nam.

However, Tran Van Nam, vice chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, said that the decision to revoke the land followed the Government Inspectorate’s conclusion about violations related to the land by, Le Van Cung, chairman of the provincial People’s Committee.

Nam added that the province has offered favourable conditions to Dai Nam Tourist Park, including the building of roads to serve tourists. He denied the company's accusations that local authorities have intentionally caused difficulties to the park.
