Asia-Pacific businesses suffer most from software piracy

A new global study commissioned by Microsoft Corp. and conducted by IDC on the effects of malware found in pirated software discovered that the chances of infection by unexpected malware are one in three for consumers and three in 10 for businesses.

Microsoft today unveiled the results of a study which found that 86 per cent of counterfeit software DVDs and 48 per cent of computers with illegal copies of Windows contained high-risk malware infections and viruses.
