The open-top, two-seater is considered the most expected roadster and has a more powerful, attractive and fascinating appearance without abandoning the classic lines, was presented last week in Ho Chi Minh City.
Andreas Klingler, general director of Prestige Sports Cars Company Limited - official importer of Porsche in Vietnam, said at the debut of the new Boxster: “95 per cent of all parts are brand new and the Boxster has been totally redesigned but with keeping the original shape”.
Klingler added: “Porsche has not just significantly enhanced the driving dynamics, thereby ensuring unadulterated driving fun, but the new Boxsters are 15 per cent more fuel efficient as well. Depending on model, the fuel consumption is significantly lower as eight litres per 100 kilometres. The new Boxster offers all the beauty of what a sports car should be lighter, more fuel efficient, faster and more agile”.
Porsche expected the new model to help the company improve its sales. “We expect to buy around 79 units of Porsche in this year. Of which, Boxster is expected to account for 10 units to be sold by end of 2012,” Klingler told VIR.
Despite the current economic difficulties worldwide and also in Vietnam, Porsche had so far a rather busy and successful year. Porsche sold 120,000 cars worldwide in 2011, which was the best year in the company’s history.
For Porsche Vietnam, 2012 is also a busy year. The official importer just came back from the successful Motor Show in Hanoi. In April, the Panamera GTS and in August the Cayenne GTS, were launched.
With those models, Porsche is underlining its position as the true sports car manufacture and “2012 will be even better,” said Klingler.
