With 400 staff members and a total of 6,500 full-time students, the university was facing obstacles arising from its legacy student system. High-traffic processes such as admission and registration required real-time and accessible data across the university’s four faculties.

Due to the complex rules of a credit-based system, the university’s processes could not be handled correctly resulting in manual enrolment validation and corrections, thus leading to frustration to both students and staff.

With PeopleSoft Enterprises Campus Solution went live for six months, these issues were addressed, according to Tran Vu Binh, ERP director of Hoa Sen University.

The VND10 billion ($480,000) project helped the university to increase total student enrolment in this summer term by more than 40 per cent.

Quang Minh Pham, country manager of applications division of Vietnam, said that the benefits earned from the software solutions were far beyond their expectations. He advocated the solutions to be deployed more widely in Vietnam's universities.
