“We are in negotiations with some Vietnamese channels for the delivery of TV shows and movies across multiple territories. The commercialisation will start in early December, 2012,” said Ravindran Govindan, founder and executive chairman of Mercatus Capital Limited.
PurpleStream’s technology owned by Singapore-based Convergence Pte Limited enables smooth delivery of high definition video to customers in over the world. It also claims the technology has unique live broadcasting capabilities.
Convergence Pte Limited’s founder and director Karthik Subramanian told VIR that PurpleStream would benefit enterprises and Vietnamese audiences.
“For enterprises, PurpleStream serves live events, export activities and advertisings in smooth and clear broadcasting than ever with mobile or tablet devices connecting to internet required,” said Subramanian.
Vietnam was the sixth market that PurpleStream had been commercialised in following India, Indonesia, Philippine, Bangladesh and Singapore since August, 2012, according to Subramanian.
Mercatus Capital’s portfolio includes around 40 businesses including the healthcare, information and communication technology, social media and material sciences sectors, mainly in Asia.
The business has begun expanding its service offering to global broadcasters, content aggregators and over-the-top content providers, and is in discussions with various government agencies, content delivery networks and content owners to leverage its video delivery platform through PurpleCloud.
