Vietnam is home to ASEAN’s top students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics). To tap into the local IT talent pool, KBTG has established KBTG Vietnam Co., Ltd. This is KBTG's third IT base in the region to strengthen its workforce in support of KBank’s Regional Digital Expansion strategy.

Specifically, KBTG Vietnam is the second branch of KBTG in ASEAN, and the third branch in Asia after KBTG in Thailand and K-Tech in Shenzhen, China. KBTG expects that the company will add more than 500 new positions in Vietnam within the next three years. The Vietnamese subsidiary will lay a strong foundation for KBTG to become a regional tech company by 2025, as targeted.

Despite recently setting foot in Vietnam, KBTG has been actively promoting financial and technology literacy by offering free banking and IT classes to local universities. The company also provides career opportunities to young talents through an internship programme for local students. The initiatives are part of KBTG's strategies to empower tech talents to drive innovation and make a real impact in their work.

Thanussak Thanyasiri, managing director of KBTG Vietnam said, "We always make efforts to create the most favorable working environment at KBTG Vietnam with a focus on human resources to unlock the full potential of each individual. Meanwhile, our office is designed as an open working space with a modern style to encourage the work efficiency and creative spirit of the staff who are outstanding talents in the IT field. Moreover, our employees are treated equally with similar opportunities and career development roadmap."

Furthermore, the KBTG team is dedicated to fostering a sense of unity and collaboration, from top-level management to every individual staff member, to nurture the spirit of ONE KBTG. This spirit includes One Step Ahead; One Goal; One Team and Number One. This spirit will be further fortified by the contributions of its programming comrades in Vietnam.

Jarung Kiatsupapong, vice chairman of KBTG said, "We started to conduct market research two years ago to explore the culture and demand of Vietnamese. The insights help us to localise our services to create the best customer experience."

"To promote our presence in Vietnam's tech market, we will actively cooperate with media and press agencies, support campaigns at universities as well as participate in a series of events and conferences. We aim to spread the company's ONE KBTG culture to lure more IT talents," he said.

At present, KBTG Vietnam is home to 100 employees, 97 of whom are Vietnamese. Three managers are Thais with outstanding leadership skills and a local understanding of the Vietnamese market.

"KBTG aims to transform itself into the best tech organisation in Southeast Asia. Employees at KBTG Vietnam are part of the mission to realise this vision. They will not only help build a strong footprint in Ho Chi Minh City but also contribute to the development of the IT sector in Asia-Pacific. The move will also support KBank's goal of being one of the top 20 banks in Vietnam within 2027," Kiatsupapong said.

In 2023, KBTG Vietnam plans to recruit the first group of 200 IT personnel to develop software for KBank and international businesses, jointly upgrading the K PLUS Vietnam application. This will support the company to draw more than 500 talented professionals in Vietnam within the next three years.

Additionally, KBTG Vietnam aims to enhance its capability in expanding K PLUS to other countries across the region. K PLUS is KBank’s flagship product with over 600,000 existing users, and a major digital banking platform supporting the expansion of its customer base in Thailand, with a target of more than 1.3 million by 2023.

To secure a stronger presence, KBTG Vietnam has recently established its second office in Hanoi. The Hanoi-based office enables the company to access potential tech talents as well as support employees in different cities who prefer to work outside of Ho Chi Minh City.

KBTG’s solid operation bases and personnel in Thailand, China, and Vietnam will allow the company to leverage its synergy and amalgamate the offices’ potential and expertise to advance KBTG’s technical capacities and important skills, including AI, blockchain, supply chain, and coding methodology.

Voranuch Dejakaisaya, KBTG's executive chairman, said, “KBTG never ceases in developing our business operations to support KBank’s strategy of broadening its presence in the ASEAN region through digital banking services. We are ready to cope with the ‘talent war’ challenge in Thailand. KBTG has thus adopted a proactive strategy in recruiting top personnel to help drive KBank’s business expansion both domestically and regionally.”
