Vinh Long People’s Committee has signed Decision No.1626/QD-UBND promulgating the list of projects inviting non-state investment capital in the province for the period of 2019-2020. Among them, there are 46 initiatives in the fields of industry, agriculture and rural development, culture, tourism, education and training, infrastructure and transport, urban and housing, and trade and services.
Vinh Long is one of 13 cities and provinces in the Mekong River Delta in a special geographical location, downstream of the Mekong River and between others that connect to the Mang Thit River and the dense river system linking international transportation through several sea gates.
With its mild climate and fertile land, Vinh Long has immense potential for agricultural production. The province produces over a million tonnes of rice, and nearly 400,000 tonnes of sweet potatoes. Other specialites with high commercial value such as Nam Roi and Da Xanh pomelo, king orange, longan fruit, and rambutan generate more than 560,000 tonnes in annual production.
Aquatic farming is one of the spearhead sectors of the province also, with output of seafood items such as tra fish and red tilapia reaching 126,000 tonnes per year. With regards to poultry and cattle breeding, the province also raises about 5.7 million chickens, pigs, and cows, demonstrating that Vinh Long plays an important role in the development of the Mekong Delta region as well as the country as a whole.
