According to the agreement, as a strategic partner of Bamboo Airways, PIA Engineering under PIA Group will provide the airline with maintenance, repair, and guarantee services for aircraft components such as maintenance, repair, overhaul; supplying aircraft spare parts, components, and materials; providing rental equipment and aviation specialised services.

Additionally, PIA Engineering will also provide technical training services to support human resources for Bamboo Airways and other airlines, including designing, manufacturing, replacing aircraft cabin interior parts, and other auxiliary services.
Bamboo Airways representatives asserted that both sides have gone through a strict and comprehensive process of researching and learning about the partners’ qualification.
“Identifying safety and on-time performance as top priorities, Bamboo Airways imposes strict requirements on technical units. PIA Engineering under PIA Group is equipped with the most modern facilities and many stages have been automated to reduce human errors. Currently, in the field of aircraft equipment maintenance in Vietnam, PIA is one of the very few companies that have a serious and methodical investment,” said Nguyen Ngoc Trong, deputy general director of Bamboo Airways.

Nguyen Ngoc Trong also mentioned that in addition to being approved by the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, PIA Engineering was required to pass Bamboo Airways’ internal assessments of its facilities, human resources, and inventory, among others, thereby ensuring the provision of high-quality services and strict compliance with all stringent requirements of the manufacturers and the authorities.
Moreover, partners must be available 24/7 to promptly respond to requests from the airline with a view to operating on-time flights in good technical condition.
Since its establishment, Bamboo Airways has positioned itself as a 5-star-oriented airline. The strategic cooperation with PIA is in accordance with Bamboo Airways’ strategy of modernising and professionalising its fleet and flight operations team in the coming years.
The cooperation with will enable Bamboo Airways to provide on-site maintenance for various equipment instead of sending them abroad as before. Thus, direct costs are lowered while turnaround time is shortened, thereby creating favourable conditions for the technical assurance of the fleet.

There is much room for improvement in the field of aerospace engineering services in Vietnam. In fact, a large amount of equipment (catering equipment, entertainment equipment, flying boats, evacuation slides, and aircraft interior, among others) is not too complicated, but still must be regularly sent abroad for maintenance at extravagant costs.
