Toyota Vietnam Foundation (TVF), in cooperation with VinaCapital Foundation(VCF), on February 24 held the ceremony to give medical equipment to six hospitals in the northern mountainous province of Ha Giang.

The two organisations donated one ambulance and six stretchers in total to six hospitals in Ha Giang – Bac Quang regional hospital, Ha Giang provincial hospital, Vi Xuyen district hospital, Xin Man district hospital, Yen Ninh district hospital and Bac Me district hospital.

The donation aims to help solve medical problems facing the community, most importantly to decrease maternal and infant mortality in the poor provinces in the northern mountainous region, of which Ha Giang is one of the poorest. It is among activities by Toyota Motor Vietnam (TMV) and TVF that aim to contribute more to Vietnam.

According to Tran Duc Quy, Deputy Chairman of the Ha Giang People’s Committee, the healthcare sector in Ha Giang is still suffering a lot of difficulties. Healthcare facilities are in disrepair and there’s not enough medical equipment.

“It is an honour for Ha Giang to receive this donation. The province is in need of support from individuals, organisations and companies like TVF and VCF to ensure the quality of the local healthcare,” he said.

“TMV hopes that the donation will support the healthcare for people in Ha Giang and nearby provinces,” said Doan Thi Yen, deputy director of TMV.

On this occasion, TMV employees sent to the compassion fund, which subsidises meals and hospital fees for poor patients, of these six hospitals VND30 million ($1,350) worth of gifts with the aim to partly help poor patients.

Ha Giang has area of 8,000 square kilometres, with a 277-kilometre border with China. The province has 10 districts and one city and a total of 195 communes and quarters, of which 32 are poor and 140 very poor.

Established in 1995, TMV now has 46 authorised dealers and branches of dealers and service points throughout the country. The company had cumulative sales of 355,000 units as of February 2016 and output of 45,000 units per year.
