Toyota awards 115 scholarships to excellent science technology students

Toyota Vietnam Foundation (TVF) on November 4 awarded 115 scholarships to 115 excellent technical and environment students from 16 universities in Vietnam.

This is the 18th year Toyota Motor Vietnam (TMV) has given the scholarship, which aims to encourage creativity in science researching for students in universities and contribute to human resources training and development for Vietnam in general and the automobile industry in particular. Up to now TVF has given 1,879 scholarships.

As TMV celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, the value of each scholarship has been increased from VND4 million ($187) to VND6 million ($281).

Besides, this year TMV also granted equipment to 15 universities. For Hanoi University of Science and Technology, the company gave 1 Hiace car as a thank you for the university’s support and cooperation in many of the company’s activities especially in education.

“Our belief is that young students are valuable asset to entreprises and society, and human resource development is the best way to develop a sustainable society,” said Yoshihisa Maruta, president of TMV.

TVF was established in October 2005 by TMV, with cooperation from the Ministry of Education and Training and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, with the initial fund of $4 million to support socio-cultural exchange, education and training and the development of human resources in Vietnam.
