Following the devastating earthquake and aftershocks that struck the South Asian country last week and killed 7,000 people, the board of executive directors of BASFSE has decided to contribute €200,000 ($224,000) for relief assistance.
The money will be sent to the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) via BASF Stiftung, a charitable foundation based in Germany.
It is hoped that the fund will support the disaster relief activities and act as immediate aid to victims of the Nepal earthquake, in terms of providing emergency supplies, food, water and health support.
Sanjeev Gandhi, member of the board of executive directors of BASF SE, said, “We extend our heartfelt sympathy to all people affected by this disaster in Nepal. As time is of the essence, we are making this contribution to support urgently needed relief measures.”
