Bosch contributes to traffic and vehicle safety research in Vietnam

Today, Bosch Vietnam held the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Standing Office of National Traffic Safety Committee (SONTSC) to improve traffic safety in the country.

The MoU is expected to promote cooperation in sharing expertise, experience, and study results as well as consultation on issues related to traffic safety in specific aspects of interests of both SONTSC and Bosch Vietnam to improve traffic safety in the country.

According to Khuat Viet Hung, NTSC vice chairman, 12,775 traffic-related accidents were recorded in the first eight months of 2017, claiming more than 5,400 lives and injuring 10,543 people.

NTSC’s report showed a downward trend in traffic-related accidents, fatalities, and injuries against the same period last year. In particular, the number of traffic accidents, fatality, and injuries decreased by 6.3, 5.54, and 10.7 per cent, respectively. However, he added, this downward trend is not sustainable, thus more cross-sectorial effort is needed.

Guru Mallikarjuna, managing director of Bosch Vietnam, said that traffic safety is an inescapable concern for everyone. Reducing road traffic accidents and improving traffic safety require multi-sectoral cooperation among the government, the academia, organisations, businesses, and the public.

With our research capabilities and advanced technologies in vehicle safety systems, Bosch can cooperate to help make a difference in making the roads of Vietnam safer," he noted.
