The plan was revealed by Oyma Nagahisa, Executive Officer and Chief Executive Officer of ASEAN Aeon, when he attended a tree-planting ceremony at the construction site of the Aeon Mall – Tan Phu Celadon in Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Phu District.
The first Vietnamese facility of Aeon, the Aeon Mall – Tan Phu Celadon is scheduled to be inaugurated next January.
Two similar malls will then be opened in Binh Duong and Hanoi.
Aeon has invested more than US$100 million in the Tan Phu venue, Nagahisa said.
Many Japanese fashion, household appliance, and interior decoration brands are expected to make their Vietnam debut at the 80,000 m2center, he added.
In related investment news, Germany’s Bosch has obtained the license for an additional investment of US$240 million for its Vietnamese facility, Robert Bosch Vietnam Co Ltd, to set up a new plant in southern Dong Nai Province.
The German group’s total investment in Vietnam has amounted to a total of 260 million, or $340 million.
The additional investment will be used to set up a new plant that makes spare car parts as well as a training program for local workers, said Bosch Vietnam director Vo Quang Hue.
