According to estimates, based on the amount of unmanaged plastic waste generated from residential areas of 50km along the coast, Vietnam is fourth out of 192 countries studied for marine plastic waste. Unmanaged plastic waste amounts to 1.83 million tonnes per year, corresponding to 0.28-0.73 million tonnes of plastic discharged into seas and 6 per cent of the total amount discharged into seas worldwide.
