Ricoh was again named a leader in the print security market according to Quocirca s latest Print Security Vendor Landscape 2026 report reflecting its sustained managed security services for customers

TOKYO, Aug. 10, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Ricoh has once again been named a leader in the print security market, according to the latest Print Security Vendor Landscape 2026 report from Quocirca, a leading market research and insight firm, reflecting its sustained commitment to protecting customers as printers become a bigger target for cyberattacks.

As organisations continue to navigate the evolving challenge of hybrid work, growing AI-driven threats, and increasingly complex mixed print fleets, the need for robust print security has never been more critical. Quocirca's research shows that two-thirds (67%) of organisations experienced at least one data loss due to a print-related security breach in the past year — up from 56% in 2025 — with the average cost of a print-related data breach now exceeding 1.3M USD.

According to the report, Ricoh's managed services, platform-based fleet visibility, and broad partner ecosystem — which together secure mixed fleets from any manufacturer, not just its own devices — are central to how it helps customers close the gap between print infrastructure and enterprise-wide security strategy.

Operationalising Security Across Print

Ricoh's recognition by Quocirca reflects its focus on treating print security as an ongoing operational discipline rather than a one-time configuration exercise.

"Print is still one of the most overlooked corners of enterprise security, so recognition like this matters — it reflects the work we do to help customers close that gap rather than treat print as an afterthought," said Kei Uesugi, Managing Director, Ricoh Asia Pacific. "As the threat landscape shifts, our focus stays the same: giving organisations the visibility and control to keep their people both productive and protected."

Key Strengths That Set Ricoh Apart

The Print Security Landscape 2026 report highlights several key strengths underpinning Ricoh's leadership position:

Global, device-agnostic security support spanning approximately 200 countries and territories.

Broader visibility and automation across diverse print fleets through Ricoh's platform tools.

Assurance that refurbished devices meet the same security standards as new products.

Continued investment in workflow and AI-driven security, including the natif.ai acquisition and a roadmap for AI-enabled data loss prevention (DLP) within RICOH Streamline NX.

Strengthening Readiness for Emerging Risks

With AI-driven threats and the eventual arrival of quantum computing reshaping the risk landscape, Ricoh continues to develop its secure print portfolio to meet the diverse needs of its global customer base.

The report specifically highlights Ricoh's RICOH Streamline NX and RICOH CloudStream print management solutions for their support of zero trust architecture, broad authentication options, and lifecycle hardening capabilities such as Automatic Remote Firmware Update and Always Current Technology.

For further information, please visit www.ricoh.com

Reflecting this growing appetite for bakery tourism, digital travel platform Agoda has revealed the top domestic "bread pilgrimage" destinations for travelers to explore in the second half of the year.

Based on accommodation searches made by South Korean travelers between 1 January and 15 June this year, Goyang recorded the largest increase in travel interest among destinations hosting upcoming bakery-related events. Daejeon, Jeongseon, Suwon, and Seoul followed, rounding out the top five destinations for bakery tourism.

Goyang topped the list with a 22% increase in accommodation searches, likely driven by the "2026 Cafe & Bakery Fair Season 2" taking place from 29 October – 1 November this year. The event showcases not only coffee, desserts, and bakery products, but also coffee equipment, packaging solutions, related services, and the latest industry trends. Season 1, held from 4–7 June, attracted more than 200 participating brands and an estimated 30,000 to 40,000 visitors.

Ranking second, Daejeon recorded an 18% increase in accommodation searches. Long regarded as one of South Korea's iconic "bread pilgrimage" destinations thanks to the legendary bakery Sungsimdang, the city has continued to strengthen its reputation through unique local experiences such as the "Bread Taxi," where taxi driver Seongwoo Ahn offers visitors exclusive tours of the city's best bakeries. Interest is also expected to be fueled by two major upcoming events, "Bbangbbangrun 2026 in Daejeon," taking place on 9–10 October, and the "2026 Daejeon Bread Festival," scheduled for 17–18 October.

Jeongseon ranked third with a 17% increase in accommodation searches, likely driven by the "Bread Trail Run 2026" taking place from 12–13 September. First launched last year, the event combines running with a unique bakery experience, featuring refreshment checkpoints where participants can enjoy treats, including bread, beverages, snacks, ice cream, and chocolate. Beyond the race itself, participants can enjoy a variety of activities, including a running clinic led by a national team athlete, warm-up sessions, and photo zones.

Suwon placed fourth, with accommodation searches rising 15%. The increase is likely driven by the "Korea Coffee & Dessert Festival Season 2," scheduled for 11–13 December. As Suwon's only exhibition dedicated exclusively to coffee and desserts, the festival brings together coffee lovers, home baristas, and bakery enthusiasts to discover the latest dessert trends.

Rounding out the top five, Seoul recorded an 11% increase in accommodation searches, likely driven by the "2026 Cafe & Bakery Fair Season 2" taking place from 27–30 August. The capital also hosted Season 1 earlier this year from 25–28 February, reinforcing its position as one of the country's leading destinations for bakery enthusiasts and cafe culture.

Alex Park, Country Director, South Korea at Agoda shared, "Food has always been an important part of the travel experience, and we're seeing more opportunities for travelers who want to plan trips around finding the best bakeries, with bread evolving from a simple dessert into a destination and experience in itself. From iconic bakeries to bread festivals, Agoda is delighted to help travelers discover local culture through food while making it easy to find great-value accommodation for every journey."

With over 130,000 flight routes, more than 6 million holiday properties, and over 300,000 activities, Agoda ensures bread enthusiasts can seamlessly combine their bookings in one convenient platform throughout their journey.
Hainan s Riyue Bay emerges as new surf tourism landmark

Riyue Bay in Wanning Hainan Province is stepping into a new cultural tourism landmark with its Surf Plus concept drawing wave chasing visitors to the coastal destination according to a People s Daily report

WANNING, China, Aug. 10, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- A news report from People's Daily Digital Communication

Escaping the sweltering summer heat, head for the coconut‑fringed charm of Hainan, China! In Wanning City, Hainan Province, the summer scorch melts away amid azure ocean waves. Renowned as an internationally celebrated surfing destination, Wanning offers visitors the thrill of riding surf across the open sea. Visitors may also stroll along the coastline, savour the sea breeze drifting through coconut groves, embrace a laid‑back coastal pace, and experience the one‑of‑a‑kind coolness unique to this island.

Nine o'clock in the morning, CTG Wave‑Chaser Resort was already buzzing with activity. Many tourists had changed into their surfing suits early, finished warm‑up exercises under instructors' guidance, and waited eagerly to step onto surfboards. Yet the surging "sea area" beneath their feet was not a natural coastline, but an artificial‑surfing space powered by advanced wave‑generating equipment.

According to introductions, the all‑season artificial surf pool right in front of us can generate 23 types of waves. Both absolute beginners to surfing and professional athletes pursuing high‑difficult maneuvers can have round‑the‑clock, safe and tailor‑made surfing experiences here.

"Man‑made ocean waves? This is absolutely fascinating." After the briefing, Kim Ji‑yong, representative of South Korean bloggers, could not hold back his curiosity and stepped onto the surfboard for a hands‑on experience.

"Surfing on artificially‑generated waves feels just like riding real ocean swells; it's truly wonderful." Paddling, popping up and catching waves — even without being able to handle the surfboard skillfully, visitors here still enjoyed the one‑of‑a‑kind fun brought by artificial wave‑making technology.

If wave‑generating technology acts as an accelerator for Wanning's surfing‑industry growth, Riyue Bay's exceptional natural endowments form its foundation. With year‑round water temperature hovering around 26.5℃ and more than 200 surfable days annually, it is hailed as a "golden surf spot" by the international surfing community. Boasting premium bay resources, Riyue Bay draws growing numbers of international surfing enthusiasts from across the globe.

Moving from churning surf to laid‑back shorelines, the bay‑area commercial streets showcase another dimension of the "surf‑plus" concept. At sea‑facing cafés, guests may order a rich, aromatic cup of specialty Xinglong coffee. As night falls, drop into lively music bistros and soak up the youthful vibe woven by live music, art and the rhythm of ocean breezes and crashing waves. This one‑stop holiday experience covering accommodation, recreation, shopping and entertainment effectively extends tourists' length of stay, transforming surfing from merely a sport into a desirable lifestyle.

RiboX wins FDA clearance for first circular RNA CAR therapy

RiboX Therapeutics received FDA IND clearance for RXIM002 the first circular RNA based in vivo CAR therapy for autoimmune cytopenias supporting the initiation of its Phase 1 clinical trial

SHANGHAI and CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Aug. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- RiboX Therapeutics Ltd. ("RiboX"), a global clinical-stage biotechnology company pioneering fully engineered circular RNA (circRNA) therapeutics, announced today that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cleared the company's Investigational New Drug (IND) application for RXIM002. RXIM002 is the world's first circular RNA-based in vivo CAR-T therapy delivered by a targeted lipid nanoparticle (tLNP). This marks an important milestone for the field as circRNA-based in vivo CAR-T officially advancing into clinical development.

RXIM002 is an investigational product employing tLNP encapsulated circRNA that encodes a CD19‑targeting chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) for the treatment of autoimmune cytopenias. By delivering circRNA to T cells in vivo, RXIM002 enables durable CAR expression and generating functional CAR-T cells directly within the patient's body. This "in situ generation" approach fundamentally bypasses the complex, costly and time-consuming ex vivo manufacturing processes required by conventional CAR-T therapies, expanding patient access. In autoimmune diseases, deep B cell depletion driven by the in vivo generated CAR-T cells has the potential to induce immune reset and durable drug-free remission.

Prior to the IND submission, RXIM002 was evaluated in investigator-initiated trials (IITs) in China in autoimmune disease patients. Follow-up of these patients are currently ongoing, with some patients exceeding six months. RiboX submitted complete IIT data as part of the IND package to the FDA, encompassing safety and early efficacy results from all treated patients. Based on the integrity and robustness of this full dataset, the agency permitted an accelerated dose-titration scheme and granted subcutaneous formulation as part of clinical development, paving the way for potentially outpatient administration that could fundamentally transform the CAR-T treatment paradigm.

To the company's knowledge, RXIM002 is the world's first tLNP-circRNA in vivo CAR therapy that achieved FDA IND clearance. This milestone validates RiboX's proprietary tLNP platform and further reinforces the company's leadership in precision RNA therapeutics.

"The FDA IND clearance for RXIM002 is a pivotal milestone for RiboX and for the field of circRNA medicines," said Weiyi Zhang, Ph.D., Chief Executive Officer of RiboX Therapeutics. "As the first-in-class circRNA in vivo CAR-T therapy to enter the clinic, RXIM002 exemplifies our ability to translate robust pre-clinical results and rigorous early clinical evidence into an accelerated development path. This achievement brings us closer to delivering a transformative treatment option for patients living with debilitating autoimmune diseases. We are committed to advancing clinical research of RXIM002 across multiple regions worldwide to address the significant unmet needs."

RXIM002

RXIM002 is a first-in-class, tLNP-delivered circRNA therapy encoding an anti-CD19 CAR. It's designed to generate functional CAR T cells in vivo to achieve durable, non-integrating CAR-expression. By inducing profound depletion of pathogenic B cells, RXIM002 promotes immune reset and sustained disease remission, offering a potentially transformative, off-the-shelf solution for patients with B-cell-driven autoimmune diseases.

POPULUS-1 Study

POPULUS-1 is a Phase 1 clinical trial evaluating the safety, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and early efficacy of RXIM002 in patients with relapsed or refractory autoimmune cytopenias. The study will initially enroll participants with relapsed or refractory immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), the most prevalent autoimmune cytopenia, characterized by a low platelet count and an increased risk of bruising and bleeding. ITP is caused by pathogenic autoantibodies driven by aberrant B-cell activation. RXIM002 is being developed to induce transient in vivo CAR T-cell mediated depletion of pathogenic B cells while potentially preserving immune competence.

RiboX Therapeutics

RiboX Therapeutics is a global, clinical-stage biotechnology company dedicated to discovering and developing circRNA therapeutics with operations in China, US and Israel. RiboX develops proprietary circRNA and targeted LNP platforms that enable durable expression, precision tissue targeting and broad therapeutic applicability across multiple disease areas.

Forward-Looking Statements

This press release contains forward-looking statements regarding the development, regulatory advancement, clinical evaluation, safety, efficacy, and commercial potential of RXIM002 and the Company's circular RNA and targeted lipid nanoparticle platforms. Actual results may differ materially due to various risks and uncertainties. RiboX undertakes no obligation to update forward-looking statements except as required by law.

For Further Information, please visit: http://www.riboxtx.com/

Pattaya positions itself as year round event tourism hub

Pattaya is repositioning itself as a year round destination through event tourism with Thai travellers increasingly choosing the seaside city near Bangkok for sporting competitions music festivals and art events beyond its beaches

BANGKOK, THAILAND – Media OutReach Newswire – 3 August 2026 – At a time when travel for Thai people is no longer simply about 'taking a break', many are choosing to travel to attend events that interest them, whether sporting competitions, music festivals, seaside activities, art events or city festivals. These experiences can transform an ordinary trip into a journey filled with stories, meaning and lasting memories.

Amari Pattaya and OZO North Pattaya invite travellers to extend their Pattaya Marathon 2026 trip into a seaside escape amid the vibrancy of Pattaya — an event city filled with sport, music, cafés and lifestyle activities throughout the year.

This trend reflects the growth of Event Tourism, or activity-based tourism, which is gaining popularity among a new generation of both Thai and international travellers. Events are not merely a reason to travel; they are also a starting point for sharing experiences with like-minded people, feeling the energy of a city at its liveliest and enriching the journey through food, culture, lifestyle, relaxation and memorable moments along the way.

Pattaya is one destination that clearly reflects this new travel trend. Once best known as a familiar seaside getaway near Bangkok, the city has now evolved into a vibrant year-round destination, with everything from sporting competitions, music festivals and beachfront activities to international lifestyle events such as Wonderfruit, Rolling Loud Thailand, the Pattaya International Fireworks Festival, Pattaya Music Festival, Honda LPGA Thailand and the Pattaya Marathon, as well as many other international events that continue to draw Thai and overseas travellers back at different times of the year.

This September, the 33rd Pattaya Marathon 2026, to be held on 26 and 27 September 2026, is another major event that reinforces Pattaya's role as an Event Tourism city. This year, more than 40,000 runners and family members from various countries are expected to travel to take part, filling Pattaya with the atmosphere of travel, connection and the energy of people brought together through sport. Adding to its appeal, the race combines a scenic coastal course with Pattaya's lively urban energy, giving runners the opportunity to enjoy sunrise views over the Gulf of Thailand, refreshing sea breezes and some of the city's most recognisable beachfront landmarks.

But the appeal of travelling to Pattaya for an event does not end on race day. After the run or activity, travellers can extend their trip with many more experiences, from strolling along the beach and visiting cafés in popular neighbourhoods to dining at well-known local restaurants, spending time at a beach club, trying water activities, or relaxing with family and friends in an easily accessible beach city that stays lively throughout the day.

To complement this style of travel, ONYX Hospitality Group welcomes travellers at its two Pattaya hotels: Amari Pattaya and OZO North Pattaya. Both are conveniently located for easy access to the city's vibrant attractions and close to the Pattaya Marathon 2026 starting point, making them ideal for runners, families and travellers who want to turn an event trip into a seaside break.

For those looking to make their holiday experience even more complete, Amari Pattaya presents a new definition of multi-generational family holidays. For families travelling together, the hotel offers a balanced approach that allows members of every generation to enjoy their own lifestyle seamlessly before coming together again to share happy moments as a family.

While some family members may choose to explore Pattaya Beach or enjoy outdoor activities, others can unwind at Maai Spa, a premium spa that blends contemporary Thai wellness practices with the refined inspiration of silk to restore both body and mind.

For larger families travelling with little princes and princesses, children can let their imaginations run free through creative activities at The Treehouse Kids Club and the expansive water park, while grandparents can retreat to the peaceful privacy and exclusive service of Club Napha.

Amari Pattaya also brings the whole family together over memorable meals, from authentic Thai cuisine crafted with carefully selected local ingredients and a selection of Western favourites at Amaya Food Gallery, to authentic Italian cuisine served in the warm ambience of Prego Pattaya Pasta Lab and Bar, a beachfront Italian restaurant where families and friends can gather over fresh pasta, handcrafted dishes and contemporary interpretations of Italian classics in a warm and welcoming setting

Meanwhile, OZO North Pattaya is an ideal choice for travellers who want to make the most of every moment of their trip. Its location close to the beach, major shopping centres, cafés, restaurants and the city's key event venues makes it easy to experience Pattaya's vibrant atmosphere. Guests can start the day with breakfast at EAT, take a stroll by the sea, stop at a café during the day and conveniently round off the evening with Pattaya's nightlife. Back at the hotel, they can relax by the large swimming pool or recharge at the fitness centre before retiring to a room designed for a truly restful night's sleep, ready to welcome a new morning and enjoy the city all over again.

More than just a seaside city near Bangkok, Pattaya today is a destination where travellers can shape their own experiences throughout the day, from relaxing on the beach and enjoying brunch at an inviting café to water activities, art attractions and seaside dining at sunset. This is the appeal of Event Tourism: an event is not merely the reason to travel, but the starting point for a trip filled with people, atmosphere and memorable moments.

For runners, families, groups of friends or anyone look for a seasonal getaway, Pattaya Marathon 2026 could be a good reason to start planning the next trip and use the opportunity to experience a side of Pattaya that goes beyond the beach.

The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement.

More information: www.onyx-hospitality.com

TAIPEI, TAIWAN - Media OutReach Newswire - 6 August 2024 - From July 31 to August 2, the Council of Indigenous Peoples (CIP) joined hands with the State of Hawaii Office in Taipei to present the three-day "Formosa-Hawaii Cultural Festival" at the New Taipei City Citizen Plaza, inviting people from across Taiwan to immerse themselves in the world of Austronesia through music and dance, and experience firsthand the beauty and passion of Austronesian culture.

Chairperson Ljaucu Zingrur (Tseng Chih-Yung) of the Indigenous Peoples Council delivered opening remarks at the Aloha Taiwan Cultural Festival, expressing the hope that cultural exchanges between Taiwan and Hawaiʻi will deepen Austronesian cultural connections and help preserve the invaluable cultural heritage of Indigenous peoples.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, CIP Minister Ljaucu‧Zingrur said that cultural experiences often move people deeply, and that sound policy can turn that emotion into lasting institutions. As the CIP marks its 30th anniversary this year, the opening ceremony of the Formosa-Hawaii Cultural Festival featured a special tribute honoring individuals who have made outstanding contributions to Indigenous affairs. Among these forerunners and partners are those who advocated internationally for the rights of their people, devoted their lives to rescuing endangered Indigenous languages, brought international acclaim to Taiwan through music, dance, and sport, and even those who became guardians of their communities for leading the swift evacuation of an entire village amid a raging storm and rebuilding it in the aftermath. In paying tribute to these unsung heroes, the Minister expressed hope that this honor will be passed on, inspiring more talented citizens to join in advancing Indigenous affairs. He also expressed that this cultural celebration is powerful proof that Indigenous culture is not only flourishing on Taiwan's own soil, but is also embracing the world with the utmost confidence and openness as it steps onto the international stage.

The festival's biggest draw is its lineup of top international music and dance performances from across the Pacific, alongside Golden Melody Award-winning stars, paired with a lively, delicious, and fun Austronesian-themed marketplace, together creating the most exuberant summer party of the season! The whole venue is awash in the romance of Aloha. Visitors can savor Hawaiian Kona coffee and Indigenous delicacies in the Austronesian-themed exhibition area, try their hand at Hula dancing and lei making, and enter a daily lucky draw for limited-quantity market vouchers. Families of all ages can spend a leisurely afternoon into the evening enjoying live music while browsing the market stalls, experiencing firsthand the distinctive cultural charm and way of life shared by Taiwan's Indigenous peoples and Hawaii.

The three-day program offered one highlight after another. During the day, the State of Hawaii Office in Taipei brought in the internationally acclaimed Ke Kai O Kahiki, a dance group known for powerful, masculine hula performances, to showcase the depth of Hawaiian culture. Furthermore, the CIP has invited music and dance troupes from Palau and Tuvalu to share the profound bonds of Pacific heritage. As night falls, Golden Melody Award-winning stars took the stage in succession. On July 31, "The Call of Mountains and Sea" kicked off with performances by Usay Kawlu, Utjung Tjakivalid, and Kasiwa; on August 1, "The Night of Island Sounds" brought Princess Ai and Abao back-to-back; and on August 2, "Aloha Night" closed the festival with a grand finale by Biung and Abus, pouring out the soul of the ocean through the most contemporary electronic beats and rhythms.

The CIP and the State of Hawaii Office in Taipei warmly invited people across Taiwan to bring family and friends to the New Taipei City Citizen Plaza this weekend, to enjoy live music, explore the marketplace, and experience firsthand this not-to-be-missed summer party rich in culture.

Photo: Chairperson Ljaucu Zingrur (Tseng Chih-Yung) of the Indigenous Peoples Council delivered opening remarks at the Aloha Taiwan Cultural Festival, expressing the hope that cultural exchanges between Taiwan and Hawaiʻi will deepen Austronesian cultural connections and help preserve the invaluable cultural heritage of Indigenous peoples.

The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement.

The two sides also discussed potential cooperation once the airport becomes operational.

Earlier, on July 20, Choi Jung Ho, executive vice president of Korean Air, surveyed the passenger terminal, immigration and customs facilities, and cargo terminal. Korean Air is assessing the infrastructure as it prepares to launch passenger and cargo services between Incheon International Airport and Long Thanh.

Kyoung Hee Kang, country manager of Korean Air in Vietnam, said the airline was closely monitoring the project’s progress and working with authorities to prepare for operations.

“We see Long Thanh as having the potential to become a major aviation and logistics hub in the region,” she said.

Korean Air currently operates services to five destinations in Vietnam, including Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Danang, Cam Ranh, and Phu Quoc.

According to ACV, it is working with a number of international partners to utilise 21 new routes that currently have no direct services to Ho Chi Minh City for 2025-2030.

Target markets include China including Taiwan, India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Thailand, Europe, and the United States. The routes are expected to help generate an initial passenger base and strengthen Long Thanh’s role as a regional transit hub.

 <td
Institutional reform to drive central Vietnam s coastal economy

Vietnam s proposed special economic zone model seeks to create a new institutional framework for central coastal economic zones enhancing governance attracting strategic investment and strengthening regional competitiveness and long term economic growth

The Ministry of Justice announced on July 10 that it is seeking public comments on the draft Law on Urban Development (formerly known as the Law on Special Urban Areas). For the first time, the draft introduces the concept of a special economic zone (SEZ) and proposes that it be established as a provincial-level administrative unit under a province or centrally governed city.

Under the draft, an SEZ would be established in strategically important locations, organised under a distinctive governance model, and operated with exceptional mechanisms to boost the socioeconomic development of the locality, the region, and the country.

The government would decide on the establishment of an SEZ after obtaining opinions from the National Assembly Standing Committee.

Photo: baodautu.vn

The draft outlines two options for determining the establishment criteria. Under the first option, an SEZ must be a coastal EZ already established by the prime minister, with a population of at least 50,000, a minimum area of 500 square km, an international airport or a Class I seaport, a relatively independent geographical space, and designation as a strategic area to be developed into a new growth pole.

The second option authorises the government to issue detailed criteria, providing greater flexibility during implementation.

Beyond expanding the scale of development or offering investment incentives, one of the draft's most notable features is its proposal for a new governance model.

Under this framework, each SEZ would have its own administrative authority established by the provincial government. The chairperson of the SEZ People's Committee would be granted broader powers over personnel management and organisational structure. Customs operations would also be organised under a unified mechanism within the zone to shorten customs clearance times and improve administrative efficiency.

According to experts, the proposal reflects a significant shift in the development mindset for economic zones, moving toward the creation of an integrated development space rather than the overlapping administrative procedures that currently exist.

In central Vietnam, after nearly three decades of development, coastal EZs such as Chu Lai, Dung Quat, Van Phong, Nghi Son, and Chan May-Lang Co have become key growth engines.

These zones have played an important role in attracting investment, promoting industrial development, logistics, and exports, while driving economic growth across many localities.

However, the reality is that after nearly 30 years, there remain significant disparities in the level of development and operational efficiency among the country's economic zones, with many still unable to attract globally significant strategic investors.

Pham Ho Hoang Long, general director of Vinh Hung Energy Investment JSC, revealed that alongside the ongoing review and amendment of several laws, including the Land Law, the study of a SEZ model demonstrates the government's determination to remove institutional delays and create innovative reforms to encourage economic growth and development.

“For central Vietnam, this represents a significant opportunity and marks the beginning of a new approach to the development of coastal economic zones,” he said.

According to Long, after many years of development, the greatest obstacle is no longer land availability or investment incentives, as most economic zones nationwide already offer broadly similar policies on tax exemptions and reductions, land rental incentives, and investment support.

Meanwhile, large-scale projects still have to navigate multiple administrative procedures relating to investment approval, construction, land, environmental compliance, and sector-specific regulations. This would lengthen project preparation time and increases opportunity costs for businesses.

"In the race to entice global investment, the speed of decision-making and the ability to facilitate rapid and effective project implementation are often just as important as tax and financial incentives," Long said.

"Studying the SEZ model should be viewed as a step towards creating a new institutional space where administrative procedures are streamlined, authority is more strongly decentralised, and governance mechanisms become more flexible. Under such a model, competitive advantages will stem from governance capacity and the overall quality of the investment environment, as much as from tax incentives or land rental costs," he added.

Experts noted that central Vietnam's coastal economic zones possess numerous advantages, including deep-water seaports, extensive land reserves for industrial development, strategic connectivity along the East-West Economic Corridor, and their role as emerging hubs for energy, logistics, and processing industries.

However, to transform these natural advantages into genuine competitive strengths, the region requires a sufficiently differentiated institutional framework capable of narrowing the gap with leading investment destinations across the region.

The competitive edge of coastal economic zones will increasingly depend on tax incentives, land availability, institutional quality, governance capacity, and the speed of project implementation.
 <table
Insurtech reshapes Vietnam s insurance sector

Insurtech is emerging as a key pillar of Vietnam s digital insurance sector as demand for digital financial services continues to accelerate

The development of digital transformation in the insurance industry raises a pressing issue: as AI becomes directly involved in decision-making processes such as underwriting, pricing, and claims handling, insurers face unprecedented challenges in transparency and cybersecurity risks.

GreenNode said cyberattacks are becoming increasingly sophisticated as attackers harness AI to enhance their capabilities.

“Technology risk is no longer an internal IT issue, but a critical business risk. The insurance industry needs to shift its mindset from passive defence towards resilience, where systems can recover autonomously and maintain business continuity even in the face of a crisis,” said Mai Hai Duong, AI Product Manager at GreenNode.

To build this resilience, Duong said the key question for business leaders is how to use AI reliably.

“Insurance is one of the industries with the largest and most complex volumes of documents, paperwork and records, and every minute of processing delays directly affects the policyholder experience,” Duong said.

“For GreenNode, AI creates real value when it is deployed on infrastructure that is secure, compliant and stable enough to process sensitive data at scale. This is why we developed GreenNode IDP, an advanced evolution of conventional OCR tools and a comprehensive automated document processing platform designed to adapt to the diversity and unstructured nature of insurance records in real-world operations.”

Source: tinnhanhchungkhoan.vn

Thai Huy Chuong, head of Software Development Department at BAOVIET IT Centre, BAOVIET Holdings said that rather than replacing existing systems, BAOVIET has adopted a Hybrid AI approach.

“Claims that can be handled efficiently through rule engines continue to follow the traditional automated process, while exception cases are routed to Agentic AI for deeper analysis and decision support. For high-value claims, AI serves only as an advisory tool, with final decisions remaining the responsibility of claims professionals,” Chuong said. “We also believe that deploying Agentic AI must go hand in hand with a robust AI governance framework. This includes explainability, complete audit trails covering the entire reasoning process, human oversight over key decisions, and strict standards for data privacy and security. Only when these governance mechanisms are in place can AI be deployed responsibly and generate sustainable value for the insurance industry.”

Nguyen Ngoc Tu, chief customer and digital officer of Chubb Life Vietnam. However, life insurance remains fundamentally a business built on trust,” he said. “In the digital era, customers can access more information than ever, but trust comes from understanding the products they purchase. Insurers therefore need to be transparent about benefits, costs, terms and conditions, and the claims settlement process.”

“Technology can speed up processes, but trust is built when insurers consistently deliver on their commitments. Life insurance is a decades-long commitment, and trust is tested throughout the policy lifecycle, particularly when customers need to make a claim, receive post-sale support or seek assistance during difficult times,” Tu said.

Tu highlighted care, or human empathy, as the final key element.

“However far technology advances, life insurance remains closely connected to everyday decisions about protecting families, preparing for the future and dealing with unexpected events. At such moments, customers need accurate answers as well as someone they trust to listen, empathise and provide advice,” he said.

Bach Ngoc An

Deputy CEO of Technology, OPES Insurance

From our experience implementing AI in insurance, the most important criterion for deciding whether an AI application is worth investing in and scaling is its ability to create tangible business value. Insurers should not adopt AI simply because it is the latest trend. Every project must be evaluated carefully before investment.

AI must first demonstrate clear advantages over existing approaches. In insurance, this can be seen in applications such as intelligent document processing for claims classification and processing, or AI-powered quality assurance that enables managers to focus on high-risk cases instead of conducting random reviews.

Data is equally critical. AI models can only perform effectively when trained on sufficient volumes of high-quality data. Insurers should avoid an 'AI first, data later' approach. For example, vehicle recognition and damage assessment models require tens of thousands of training samples before they are ready for production.

Finally, AI must be supported by strong governance. Because AI is inherently non-deterministic, insurers need clear risk management frameworks, contingency plans and human oversight. For high-impact decisions such as automated claims rejection or policy approval, AI should support, not replace, human judgment, with appropriate human-in-the-loop controls to ensure accountability.

Ho Quoc Thang

Data and AI solutions consultant, SVTECH

Before deploying any AI model, insurers should ask four fundamental questions: whether premiums truly reflect underlying risks, whether emerging risks can be predicted early, whether AI models are integrated into daily operations rather than remaining proof-of-concept projects, and whether business users trust model outputs enough to incorporate them into decision-making.

Insurance data is typically scattered across core systems, claims databases, customer records, distribution channels and external sources such as weather and public datasets. Individually, these data sources solve only isolated problems. Real value emerges when they are connected to provide a comprehensive view of risk.

Data utilisation should be built as a continuous cycle. Every AI model should support a clearly defined business decision rather than simply demonstrating technological capability.

Technology alone, however, is not enough. Successful AI adoption requires a strong trust layer comprising data governance, model validation, explainability, continuous monitoring and human oversight. Insurers should start with high-value use cases, implement them on a manageable scale, while designing data architecture and AI models that can scale over time.

Vietnam's life insurance industry to surpass $7 billion by 2030
Vietnam's life insurance industry is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 5.9 per cent, increasing from $6 billion in 2026 to $7.2 billion by 2030 in terms of gross written premium, according to a report by GlobalData on April 15.

Igloo expands into life insurance with Chubb Life partnership in Vietnam
On June 2, Igloo, Southeast Asia’s only full-stack AI insurtech company, announced a strategic partnership with Chubb Life Insurance Vietnam Co., Ltd. and PT Chubb Life Insurance Indonesia, to distribute insurance solutions across Vietnam and Indonesia through Ignite by Igloo, its insurance sales intermediary platform.

Leading in AI from pilot initiatives to enterprise value

AI has become a defining economic force But while AI investment is accelerating across industries the tangible impact on business performance remains uneven and in many cases limited

PwC’s 29th Global CEO Survey underscores this disconnect: more than half of CEOs report that their organisations have yet to realise either meaningful revenue growth or cost reduction from AI in the past year. This is not due to a lack of activity. On the contrary, most organisations are actively experimenting, running pilots and deploying new tools.

Mai Viet Hung Tran, general director, PwC Vietnam

As AI reshapes business, PwC is exploring the leadership priorities that increasingly define success, from enterprise transformation and workforce readiness to governance, trust, and data foundations. The starting point is perhaps the most fundamental: turning AI pilots into measurable enterprise value.

Why many AI programmes stall at pilot stage

The explanation lies in the way AI is currently being approached. Across many organisations, AI adoption remains fragmented, with individual use cases developed in isolation from core business priorities. These efforts often deliver incremental gains, efficiency improvements and faster processing, but rarely scale to transform how the business operates.

At the same time, the market is beginning to draw a sharper distinction between those who are succeeding and those who are not. PwC’s 2026 AI Performance Study finds that approximately 20 per cent of organisations are capturing nearly 74 per cent of AI-driven value, creating a widening gap between a small group of leaders and a much larger group that remains stuck in experimentation mode.

This divergence reflects not a technology gap, but an execution gap. For those that can scale AI effectively, the difference is substantial: our research shows that the most “AI‑fit” companies deliver AI‑driven financial performance more than seven times higher than their peers, underlining how quickly advantage can compound once AI is embedded across the business.

Many organisations have essentially optimised for experimentation rather than transformation. As a result, AI remains adjacent to the business, rather than integral to it. The challenge is therefore one of integration.

From experimentation to reinvention

By contrast, organisations that are realising meaningful returns from AI are shifting from incremental improvement to business reinvention. They are not treating AI as a set of tools layered onto existing processes, but as a catalyst for rethinking how those processes should work in the first place.

Our research highlights this distinction clearly. Leading organisations are significantly more likely to use AI to drive growth, redesign workflows and pursue new revenue opportunities, rather than focusing solely on productivity gains. This is consistent with PwC’s broader concept of the “AI-native enterprise”, in which AI becomes part of core operations rather than a collection of standalone initiatives.

The implications are profound. When AI is embedded in this way, it does not merely accelerate existing processes; it reshapes them. It changes how decisions are made, how customers are served, and how organisations compete. It also creates the conditions for sustained advantage, rather than one-off gains.

For the AI-driven performance leaders, AI improves a wide range of factors that drive superior financial results

Q. To what extent has your company’s full AI portfolio improved the following outcomes?

Showing only “To a very large extent” and “To a large extent” responses. Source: PwC’s AI performance study

What Vietnamese businesses must do next

For Vietnam, the opportunity is immense. Encouragingly, leaders in Vietnam are already demonstrating a strong understanding of AI’s role in shaping business outcomes, particularly in areas such as growth, customer experience and operational efficiency. The next phase of the journey must therefore shift from exploration to execution. This transition cannot be delivered through technology alone. Enterprise-wide value requires reliable data, clear governance and a deliberate effort to build AI fluency across the workforce.

Data needs to be viewed as a strategic asset rather than a technical input. Scaling AI depends not only on the volume of data available, but on how consistently it is structured, shared and used across the organisation. As AI moves closer to decision-making, the ability to connect data across functions becomes a defining advantage.

Governance is evolving from a compliance requirement into an enabler of scale. As AI becomes embedded in business processes, organisations that establish clear ownership, decision frameworks and risk boundaries early can move faster with greater confidence. In this context, governance supports progress rather than slowing it down.

Equally important is how work itself is changing. Organisations that are seeing sustained impact are not simply introducing new tools but embedding AI into everyday workflows and decision-making. This requires moving beyond pockets of expertise and ensuring that teams across the business can use AI effectively and consistently as part of their roles.

AI will not transform organisations simply because they adopt it. It will transform those that embed it at the core of how they operate and compete. For Vietnamese businesses, in this next phase, success will depend not just on how quickly organisations adopt AI, but on how effectively they build the foundations that allow it to scale with trust and consistency. In the end, AI is an enterprise transformation and leadership story. And those who treat it as such will define the next era of growth.

Keppel advances its next chapter in Hanoi

Once known primarily as a real estate developer in Vietnam Singapore headquartered Keppel has transformed into a global asset manager and operator expanding its footprint beyond property into energy infrastructure and digital connectivity

Hanoi is emerging as a key focus of Keppel’s next stage of development in Vietnam. Before establishing a strong presence in Ho Chi Minh City with more than 20 developments, including landmark projects such as Saigon Centre and Estella Heights, Keppel’s Real Estate Division started its Vietnam journey in Hanoi.

Keppel ventures integrate residential areas with commercial activities in a suitable urban environment

It pioneered the city’s Grade A office segment with International Centre and Vietcombank Tower, while also developing the premium serviced residence, Sedona Suites Hanoi. These three projects cemented Keppel’s position as an early mover in Hanoi’s high-end commercial real estate market.

Decades after those pioneering developments, Keppel is embarking on a new phase of growth in the capital with a broader and more integrated investment strategy, with Hanoi Centre serving as a defining milestone.

The newly opened Hanoi Centre is also the first retail development that Keppel directly manages and operates in the capital, building on the company’s proven track record with Saigon Centre, one of Ho Chi Minh City’s most successful integrated commercial developments.

Offering more than 41,000 square metres of premium retail space and nearly 200 brands across fashion, beauty, dining, and entertainment, including several flagship and first-in-Hanoi concepts, Hanoi Centre has been designed to blend contemporary commercial facilities with Hanoi’s rich cultural heritage.

Located near the Temple of Literature, the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long, and the Old Quarter, Hanoi Centre preserved a more than 140-year-old banyan tree on the historic Mint House site, and a former coin minting facility dating back to the French Indochina era, creating a unique architectural focal point within the project.

At the official opening ceremony of Hanoi Centre on July 2, Rajpal Singh, Singapore’s Ambassador to Vietnam, commended Keppel for bringing the expertise and operational capabilities demonstrated at Saigon Centre, one of the company’s flagships and most successful developments, to its latest retail project in Hanoi.

“Hanoi Centre is the latest example of Keppel’s increasing presence and investments in Vietnam,” Ambassador Singh said.

A vibrant residential community

Alongside Hanoi Centre, Keppel is further strengthening its presence in Hanoi through the Estiva Charm residential project, developed in partnership with Phu Long within the Mailand Hanoi City township.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony of Estiva Charm on July 2, Nguyen Van Sinh, Vice Minister of Construction, stated that the groundbreaking was in line with the Party and state’s policy on urban development and the real estate market towards sustainability, synchronisation, and placing residents’ quality of life at the centre.

Sinh expressed hope that Estiva Charm would be implemented on schedule and to a high standard of quality, contributing to realising Hanoi’s vision for green, civilised, and sustainable urban development.

Meanwhile, Mailand Hanoi City is a nearly 300-hectare integrated township in western Hanoi, developed by Phu Long. The project is master-planned as a mixed-use urban development comprising residential, commercial, service, and community facilities.

Within Mailand Hanoi City, Keppel and Phu Long are jointly developing the more than 14ha Estiva residential development, with Estiva Charm representing its first phase.

The project also marks Keppel’s first residential development in Hanoi, expanding the company’s investment portfolio in the capital beyond commercial real estate while further strengthening its longstanding partnership with Phu Long following the success of CELESTA City in Ho Chi Minh City.

The first phase spans 2.86ha and comprises 109 dual-frontage shophouses complemented by more than 20 on-site amenities. Designed to foster a vibrant community, the development integrates residential living with commercial activities in a well-planned urban environment.

The partnership between Keppel and Phu Long reflects both companies’ long-term commitment to developing internationally benchmarked integrated urban communities, creating value for residents while contributing to the long-term development of Vietnam’s real estate market.

Beyond real estate

During recent engagements with Party General Secretary and State President To Lam, and Tran Duc Thang, Secretary of Hanoi Party Committee, Keppel reaffirmed the company’s longstanding commitment to Vietnam and confidence in the country’s continued growth.

According to Joseph Low, Keppel’s chief representative for Vietnam and president for Vietnam Real Estate, the company’s expanding investments in Hanoi reflect not only its confidence in the capital’s long-term growth potential but also its broader strategy for Vietnam.

Through the Keppel Vietnam Fund, the company is mobilising capital from global institutional investors to develop high-quality real estate projects across the country.

When fully leveraged and invested, the fund, including co-investment capital, will potentially have funds under management of approximately S$1 billion (around $773.6 million).

Beyond property investment, Keppel is expanding into businesses that complement its asset management strategy, including sustainable urban renewal, energy-as-a-service, clean energy, and digital connectivity infrastructure. These sectors are expected to offer significant growth opportunities as Vietnam accelerates its green and digital transformation.

According to Joseph Low, its real estate developments are incorporating energy efficiency, green building standards, and thoughtful designs that reduce environmental impact. “More broadly, Keppel is also bringing our infrastructure and energy transition expertise to Vietnam, helping businesses and cities manage the shift towards cleaner, more efficient energy systems. Vietnam has ambitious climate commitments, and we see a real opportunity to meaningfully contribute to this journey,” he said.

With 29 projects and over S$5 billion (around $3.86 billion) in registered investment capital in Vietnam, Keppel said it will continue expanding its footprint in the country. The company will focus on commercial real estate and the “affordable luxury” residential segment, while strengthening its presence in infrastructure, energy, and technology.

From a developer of landmark projects in Vietnam, Keppel continues to strengthen its position as a global asset manager and operator in the country. Its expanding presence in Hanoi, spanning Hanoi Centre, Estiva Charm, future developments in partnership with OSI Holdings, and initiatives in energy, digital infrastructure, and asset management, reflects the company’s strategy of building an integrated urban ecosystem that supports Vietnam’s development journey.

The fungus can persist in the soil for many years and often goes undetected until the root system has been severely damaged. By the time above-ground symptoms appear - such as yellowing leaves and widespread leaf drop - the disease is extremely difficult, and sometimes impossible, to control

Globally, a soil-borne fungal strain known as Fusarium Tropical Race 4 (TR4) - the cause of so-called "Panama disease" in bananas - is projected to affect up to 17 per cent of the world’s banana-growing area by 2040.

Without effective control, this could result in losses of approximately 36 million tonnes of bananas, representing more than $10 billion in losses to the global banana industry as a whole. FAO has also warned that the spread of TR4 could reduce global banana production by approximately 2 per cent by 2028 and affect around 240,000 jobs across the banana value chain.

In Vietnam, Fusarium spp. are also major pathogens responsible for yellowing and root rot in several economically important crops. According to studies by WASI and VAAS, the combined presence of Fusarium spp. and root-knot nematodes (Meloidogyne spp.) is a major cause of reduced growth and yield in coffee plantations in the Central Highlands.

In durian, black pepper and citrus, Fusarium - together with other soil-borne fungi - often forms part of a disease complex that weakens plants and may ultimately cause plant death if an appropriate control strategy is not implemented from the outset.

Nguyen Hac Hien, director of the Dak Lak Sub-Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection, said, “Yellow-leaf root rot has become one of the most pressing challenges in the province’s key crop-growing areas, directly affecting yields, the productive lifespan of orchards and farmers’ incomes. One of the greatest difficulties is that the disease develops below ground; by the time visible symptoms appear, the root system has often already suffered severe damage."

"We therefore encourage farmers to take early preventive action, maintain soil health and adopt science-based integrated crop protection measures, while using crop protection products safely, effectively and strictly in accordance with label instructions. The availability of new solutions with advanced modes of action will provide valuable support for pest and disease management efforts across the province.”

Representatives of Syngenta Vietnam and WASI at the Vaniva® 450SC press conference. Beyond delivering effective crop protection, TYMIRIUM technology reflects Syngenta's commitment to advancing sustainable and regenerative agriculture by developing innovative solutions that help farmers increase productivity while reducing environmental impact.

According to Syngenta, solutions powered by TYMIRIUM technology are being introduced across more than 100 crops in over 60 countries, demonstrating the company's continued commitment to innovation that enables farmers to produce more while caring for the health of their soils and the future of agriculture.

Syngenta Vietnam and WASI sign a cooperation agreement for a joint programme to develop and transfer crop protection solutions. In the soil, the product does not affect earthworms or the beneficial microorganisms essential to soil fertility.

By conserving soil biodiversity and increasing root biomass, it supports soil health and a sustainable agricultural ecosystem - reflecting Syngenta's direction of developing solutions that protect soil health, support regenerative agriculture and reduce environmental impact.

The launch of Vaniva 450SC reflects Syngenta's long-term commitment, guided by its purpose of "Breakthroughs for farmers, in every field.”

What sets Syngenta apart is not only its innovative products, but also its integrated approach - combining world-leading research and innovation with close partnerships with farmers through technical knowledge transfer, safe crop protection stewardship training, field days, and on-farm demonstration trials conducted directly in farming communities.

Tran Thanh Vu, managing director of Syngenta Vietnam, said, “With Vaniva 450SC we complete a comprehensive root-protection solution for farmers - from nematodes to fungal disease, including Fusarium, for which no truly effective solution previously existed. This is the result of many years of research, and it reflects Syngenta's commitment: bringing the most advanced technologies, safer for people and the environment, to Vietnam's fields.”

ASEAN steps up digital push for agriculture MSMEs to boost competitiveness

USDA opens applications for agribusiness trade mission to Vietnam

Hanoi, Bac Ninh and Hung Yen seek closer regional integration to attract investment in smart agriculture

Rize raises $31 million to accelerate sustainable rice farming in Vietnam and Southeast Asia

Moonfolks launches in Vietnam to fuel ASEAN expansion for outbound domestic brands

Moonfolks one of Southeast Asia s most awarded independent advertising agencies has launched operations in Vietnam

The official launch event of Moonfolks in Vietnam. Photo: Moonfolks

According to the announcement on August 7, the strategic expansion aims to bridge Vietnam’s rapidly maturing digital economy with broader ASEAN markets, targeting the growing wave of domestic enterprises seeking international scale. The Vietnam office will be led by Livio Grossi, who joins as chief creative officer and managing partner.

The agency’s entry coincides with a fundamental structural shift in Vietnam’s economy, transitioning from a consumption-heavy market to one driven by domestic wealth creation and regional capital investment. With a GDP growth rate reaching 8.18 per cent in the first half of 2026 (among the top in ASEAN) and a digital economy valued at over $39 billion in 2025, with the e-commerce sector valued at $25 billion, Vietnam is positioning itself as a dominant regional player.

Moonfolks wants to play the role of a catalyst in this transformation. Earlier this year, the Vietnamese government introduced the “Go Global” Programme (2026-2030), seeking to develop 1,000 globally capable enterprises.

According to the UOB Business Outlook Study 2026, over 80 per cent of Vietnamese businesses plan to expand internationally within the next two years, with ASEAN as the primary destination. This intent is backed by capital, as Vietnamese outbound investments surged 2.5 times in early 2026 alone.

“Vietnam’s economy has matured significantly over the last decade. With its strong digital adoption and highly capable workforce, the country has built a solid foundation for local businesses to compete on a regional scale," said Anish Daryani, founder and CEO of Moonfolks.

“As local brands look toward regional expansion, particularly into massive consumer markets like Indonesia, they require strategic frameworks that navigate complex cultural, regulatory, and digital moats. Our goal is to serve as the catalyst for that cross-border growth”.

To facilitate this cross-border expansion, Moonfolks is introducing its proprietary “Audacious Growth” model to the Vietnam market, leveraging its established network and experience across the region. While the framework provides comprehensive end-to-end capabilities – integrating branding, digital and social media, public relations, and shopper activations into a cohesive commerce engine – its ultimate goal is to help Vietnamese brands move beyond the "Made in Vietnam" cost advantages. Instead, the agency focuses on helping clients export intellectual property, design excellence, and compelling brand narratives.

Moonfolks is entering the Vietnamese market with an ecosystem approach and the objective of raising the bar for creativity in Vietnam, and contribute to the country’s creative economy. The agency has already established a collaborative network with communities, creators and industry partners like Rice Content, IDM, and Pmax, among others.

“Moonfolks wants to leverage our regional presence to provide accelerated growth to ambitious Vietnamese brands, in-market and beyond. Our proprietary Audacious Commerce model of combining content, creators, communities and culture to create commerce for brands will go a long way in redefining Vietnamese brands. We aim to do this by providing cultural fluency across markets, that will shape the commercial landscape of our region over the next decade," Daryani said.

German leading adtech firm adjoe expands to APAC region
Hamburg-based adjoe, a global leader in mobile advertising, has announced its expansion into the APAC region, with new offices established in Singapore and Tokyo.

Moloco poised to redefine Vietnam’s digital advertising market
Vietnam is now a key player in the global app economy, generating over 5.6 billion app downloads annually, ranking among the top three countries in the world.
