Top Vietnamese player Nguyen Tien Minh defeated Indian rival Kashyap Parupalli 2-1 on August 10 to lead the second round of the World Badminton Championships.

Kashyap was placed 28th in the world’s ratings.
Earlier on August 9, Minh trounced Israel’s Misha Zilberman, the world No71 seed, with a 21-10, 21-14 win.
In the third round, Minh will meet the winner of the match between Choong Hann and Boonsak Ponsana.
