Three sections of North-South Expressway simultaneously begin works

Three sections of the North-South Expressway, including Mai Son-National Route 45, Vinh Hao-Phan Thiet, and Phan Thiet-Dau Giay, representing a total investment of more than VND37 trillion ($1.6 billion) have simultaneously begun works.

Mai Son-National Route 45 is 53.5km long and passes through the two provinces of Ninh Binh and Thanh Hoa. The total investment is roughly VND12.34 trillion ($536.5 million), to be managed by Thang Long Project Management Unit.
The Vinh Hao-Phan Thiet section in Binh Thuan province will be 100.8km in length and cost VND11.2 trillion ($486.96 million). It will be controlled by Project Management Unit Number 7.
The 99km Phan Thiet-Dau Giay will cut through Binh Thuan and Dong Nai provinces. The section is controlled by Thang Long Project Management Unit, and will cost approximately VND13.66 trillion ($593.9 million).
According to the Ministry of Transport, the sections of the North-South Expressway will cross 14 of Central Vietnam in total.
The 654km North-South Expressway has 11 sections including eight using the public-private partnership (PPP) model, and three public investment projects. The 11 sections go through 13 provinces, costing a total of VND118.72 trillion ($5.16 billion). VND55 trillion ($2.4 billion) of this comes from the government and VND63.72 trillion ($2.8 billion) from extra-budgetary sources.
On June 19, the sections of Mai Son-National Route 45, Vinh Hao-Phan Thiet, and Phan Thiet-Dau Giay decided to switch to a public investment model. The remaining five sections, consisting of National Route 45-Nghi Son, Nghi Son-Dien Chau, Dien Chau-Bai Vot, Nha Trang-Cam Lam, Cam Lam-Vinh Hao will continue using the PPP model.
