Apple authorised reseller in Vietnam receives bag of stones in place of iPhone 6s Plus

Consumer electronics retailer The Gioi Di Dong recently opened a batch of sealed boxes of iPhone 6s Plus to find that the boxes contain rocks instead of phones.

The Gioi Di Dong directly imports Apple products from Apple Singapore.

On October 15, a video was uploaded on Youtube, showing the inside of a The Gioi Di Dong store.

Apparently a customer, after buying an iPhone 6s Plus at a The Gioi Di Dong store in the northern province of Yen Bai, opened the sealed box to find that there was no phone but only stones inside.

The customer then brought the box of stones to the store, which exchanged it for another iPhone 6s Plus but inside this box is also stones and accessories. They opened another two boxes to find the same thing. The staff and the customers sounded very surprised in the video. Then they wondered if the whole batch of products imported on the same day were also stones.

The Gioi Di Dong told local media that the company is going to issue an official statement in three days after verifying the information.

In August 2015, Apple Inc. chose FPT Shop and The Gioi Di Dong as its two main retailers to directly import its hi-tech products from Apple Singapore. At the moment, four Vietnamese electronics retailer namely FPT Shop, The Gioi Di Dong, FPT Trading and Digiworld have this function.
